A mid-market app with accounts, payments, notifications, an admin panel and both iOS and Android sits higher. A complex, custom platform with real-time features, integrations and heavy backend logic runs higher again.
Treat these as brackets, not quotes. The right figure for you falls out of the feature list and how much is custom.
What actually drives app cost
Five things move the number most: how many platforms you launch on (iOS, Android, or one cross-platform build for both); the feature set (login, payments, chat, maps, push, an admin dashboard each add real work); how much custom UI/UX design versus off-the-shelf; the backend and integrations (payment gateways, CRMs, ERPs, third-party APIs); and whether you need proper Arabic and RTL support, which is close to building a second front-end experience.
A quote that looks suspiciously cheap has usually left several of these out — you pay for them later, under pressure.
The costs people forget
The build is not the whole bill. Budget for the Apple and Google developer accounts, backend hosting and servers, and — most importantly — ongoing maintenance: OS updates, security patches, bug fixes and small improvements. An app is a living product, not a one-off delivery.
